Hot Fuss’ journey to Cheltenham

Tuesday 11th March at the Cheltenham Festival was a memorable day and one that the Trowbridge family won’t forget. Keith, co owner along with his sons Stephen and David, rarely misses a day of the Cheltenham festival, so to have a runner at this prestigious National Hunt festival was extra special. It was wonderful to see the joy that it bought them when the horse finished fourth in the Fred Winter, at one point it looked as if he may win, unsure Cheltenham would still standing if that were to occur. When they bought this son of Calyx at the Breeze up sales I’m not sure they would have foreseen them running around Wincanton and Cheltenham two years later but I don’t think they are complaining! Prior to his gallant Cheltenham run he had won comfortably at Southwell under regular flat jockey Pierre-Louis Jamin (The Donut), who would have needed a lifetime supply of donuts to match the weight David Bass carried when he won on the horse with ease at Sandown in a 30k Novice, which set alight the dream of Cheltenham and my god did he fulfil that. Hot Fuss has proven a real durable dual purpose horse that has brought so much enjoyment to such loyal family. Chester Cup next!
